Applications

Applications are due (to the building secretary) by 3 pm, Monday, April 15, 2024, in Building 18. Financial need is a consideration.

History

In the mid-nineties, the Highline mathematics department decided to reward excellent students in mathematics through a scholarship. The money for the scholarship comes primarily from Highline College mathematics faculty and is seen as one way we can give back to our community.

Amount

Up to $1000 per academic year (amount may vary due to financial need).

Who is eligible

Highline College Students in the calculus sequence (Math 151, 152, 153) or in pre-calculus (Math 141, 142) at the time of application, who, during the academic year for which the scholarship is awarded, will take at least two classes at Highline from among Math 151, 152, 163, 220, 230, or 264. Applicants must have an overall GPA of at least 3.25.

This scholarship is targeted at students who will be taking a significant portion of the higher end of the calculus sequence during the next year, so the priority will be given to students who have completed at least Math 151 by the end of the Winter quarter in the year they apply. However, students who have distinguished themselves in Math 141 or 142 are also encouraged to apply.

Financial need may be a factor.
